Espresso English: My new “baby”

January is a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad month for English teachers in Brazil. My group classes are on break until after Carnaval, and my individual students have been canceling classes left and right because of travel, vacation, beginning-of-the-year work, and just generally not wanting to study over the summer.

I’m trying to see this month not in light of the inevitable 30% pay cut, and rather as an opportunity to work more on my own projects – one of which is EspressoEnglish.net, an English learning website that I launched on New Year’s Day!

The idea behind Espresso English came from my students, many of whom would like to study English outside of class, but don’t have the time to sit down and slog through a textbook for half an hour. So the Espresso English lessons are designed to be small “bites” of English that only take around 5 minutes to do.

Take a look – and if you like the site, please share it with any English learners you know!

Espresso English is also on Facebook and Twitter.
